Our 2012 Roda-Thon will take place on Sunday March 4th, 2012 from 1-4pm, in Berkeley CA at the Brazilian Casa de Cultura, home of the Capoeira Arts Foundation. We invite all of our amazing students, children and adults, to participate in this event that will surely make our community just a little bit stronger through the spirit of helping at risk children by playing capoeira. We are excited to have a strong representation from the advanced students from around the United Capoeira Association this year.
As many of you may know, the Capoeira Arts Foundation is a primary contributor for the Projeto Kirimurê, an exclusive project of the IMA - Instituto Mestre Acordeon, a nonprofit Brazilian organization entirely dedicated to enriching the lives of vulnerable children at risk in Itapuã, Bahia, Brazil. Projeto Kirimuê serves children at risk, by offering them an opportunity to lead healthier and fuller lives. Projeto Kirimurê provides a safe & nurturing environment, placing emphasis on teaching the art of capoeira & music. It also takes great strides at providing a safe space for them to spend their free time, literacy classes & homework help, workshops in traditional arts and crafts, health education, special workshops and field trips. Please visit http://projetokirimure.org/ for more information about the efforts made to give these children a helping hand.
